The New Backlog
Earlier this year, I finished reading my backlog of comic books and graphic novels that I accumulated in the past three to four years. During this time frame, I also develop the habit of purchasing local history books at bookstores, second hand shops and tourist traps. These books have become a slight visual inconvenience for me as I would see the book stack piled at the foot of my bed. In my mindset, the only way to remove these books from sight is to read them. Therefore, "The Tuesday Numbers" is back... sort of. Really, I just going write posts on Tuesday on what I'm currently reading and say where I am on the book. I know it isn't exciting, but it beats having a crack addiction... I guess.

random rambling...
I think we are done combining this fall, and now we have to wait until spring to finish the rest of the corn. The moisture levels were over 30% (that's not good) on the field we've been working on these past few weeks and the last field we have to do would be over 35%. The winter frost will dry out the corn left in the field. With the warm November, we got most ploughing accomplish in years.

Note to Self
I've been rereading old posts on this blog and I discover that...
1. I don't look at the comments.
2. If I ran into myself from four years ago, I'd kick myself in the nuts.
3. When I say "I did this" with a link attached, I should actually write down what I did, rather than leave a link to something that no longer exists.
4. I'm still in agreement on what I wrote on March 3, 2008... even more so now.
5. The Tuesday Numbers were an odd experiment, but necessary.

My Vinyl Collection is Expanding
There was a record show in London today. I got in to the city too early, so I decided to park downtown to save money on parking. After picking up a coffee on Richmond Row, I sat and waited in Victoria Park watching the line up expand with mostly middle aged men at Centennial Hall for the show. On the floor, I think Cheeky Monkey from Sarnia were the only ones selling just new and non-pirated stuff. Anyways, this is what I picked up:
Sloan - Navy Blues
R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
Brian Eno & David Byrne - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
The Smiths - Meat is Murder
Michael Jackson - Off the Wall
The Soundtrack to Eraserhead
I also stopped at Grooves while I was downtown and picked up the following:
Underworld - Crocodile
Flight of the Conchords - I Told You I Was Freaky
If I buy records like used to buy comics, I think my vinyl collection could be on par with my comics in a few years.

Still Doing Farm Work
Corn silage is done, and I believe we are two thirds done of soybeans. I'm also in the process of working ground getting ready for planting wheat.
Yes, I'm well aware I need to get out more.

and you are...?
I expect to have little alcohol in my system in the next few weeks as corn silage harvesting has started. One of my neighbours has already got a 50 acre field off while another is already done for the year. We on the other hand have not started as two concrete jobs and manure removal became a priority over corn silage. I feel I'm going to have a odd smell on me after this is over.

Random Sentences - August 23, 2009
I hear mice chewing on the ceiling tiles as I write. I'm trying to get hooked on old good habits when I was younger. I'm trying to write more or at least chronicle more thing than usual. These past few weeks were nothing but cutting hay, cutting oats and going to the social gatherings where I knew very few people. Catching up on Podcasts, reading actual books, not comic books. Windows open, breeze coming in from the south. I hear the leaves on the trees and the engines of the passing vehicles on the road. The crickets are coming out during the day. I will clean later today at my grandfather's place.

Work = Observation + Not Thinking
There are moments where I should really keep my mouth shut when it comes to yard/house work at my parents' home. Especially when my dad is around. I notice a corncob on top of the roof of the house brought up by raccoons. That observation turned into my dad cleaning the eavestrough in which will mean my mother and I cleaning up the ground of all the crap that was in the eavestrough.

Oh yeah. Soon, I'll be able to write about boring and mundane things in 140 characters or more once this backlog is done.

Useless information for the day

Might be gone for a few days as my computer is acting wonky.
Nothing exciting to report. Nothing mundane to report. I'm getting into a real nice dull right now. It's incredibly boring really, like watching paint dry kind of boring.

Gifticus - The Period of Disappointment
As Geocities is shutting down, I have moved all information about Gifticus to this blog.
The Period of Gifticus starts the day after Eastern Orthodox Christmas and ends one day after Valentine's Day. [January 8 - February 15]
The "Rules" or "Loose Guidelines" of Gifticus....
- no feast
- no family
- no religious affiliation
- all participants must be over the age of eighteen in order to celebrate/ be disappointed.
There are two gifts are involved, where one gift must be three hangars. The gifts are not wrapped in paper but in a plastic bag because there will be a good chance you would need tape if you use paper and tape costs money. Furthermore, it's two gifts per household, not two gifts per person, so you have a better chance of disappointing more people if more than two people live in one house. The best place to deliver gifts is at a home, but not necessary your own. And most importantly, the receiver of the gifts must reply in a disappointed thank you.
Acceptable Second Gifts:
- anything you own that you want to get rid of, but not to give away to complete strangers
- gifts that are re-gifted
- anything that would be ideal for a yard sale
Unacceptable or Frowned upon Second Gifts
- anything in which the receiver would like
For more details, or questions, please leave comments on this blog, Thank You.
