For the next few days...

I will be somewhat missing.

The following has happen...
- I got myself a PS2 (Silm Version) and will be playing "a game" in which I will not name until I finish the game.
- Tomorrow I plan to be in Toronto for New Year's Eve playing the most sadistic game of Trivial Pursuit, and I mean nearly ten subsidary decks from the past twenty five years.
- I've been doing a fair amount of farm work in the past few days in which my laziness has become somewhat beneficial for my Father.
- and I'm also looking for a decent vehicle... still.

I would say more but even my own writing can bore me from time to time.

It's shiny tree day!

Yep, it's the day your shiny tree craps out alot of boxes where things you want are inside those boxes but you gotta rip the paper that are around those boxes.

(well, it's one way to look at it.)

don't give people warning...

I've read a lot of blogs where people said that they are taking a break from blogging until the new year. I'm not going to do that because I put entries in at an irregular manner, and if I said I going to take some time off, nothing would be written down until late January.

I wish that was a joke but it's the fricking truth.

Then again, these past few months I haven't written anything real appealing to myself because once the sunfire died, I haven't been moving around that much, and I pretty sure people don't want to know what colours a cow's placenta can look like when it's frozen.

a blog pot via myspace...

yeah, I know, but this blog is unusually addictive, and the store that's being promoted is one of the better stores in downtown london ontario.

http://blog.myspace.com/citylightsbookshop

burning history, well, really it was junk but still history...

Today, the Cheez and I were burning garbage in minus degree weather.

In order to keep the fire going I threw the majority of the junk that was in bags from the spooky house with included my grandmother's wardrobe (may she rest in peace).

I've been slowly cleaning that house for over 15 years. As I remove garbage and things that aren't useful, other family members put more crap in the house. It's like two steps forward and one step back.

something you didn't know about me, or care...

When I crash at a "foreign" place, I like to watch spanish television, particularily the news. My spanish is tremenously weak, and I have no idea what I'm watching.

Oh, when I mean "foreign" place, I mean a place that isn't a friend's house, like a motel.

the holiday shopping has started...

My main goal is to be done before the 16th, but I'm pretty sure it ain't happening that way. I have two brother-in-laws pretty the polar opposite of me when it comes to shopping. Getting books, cds, or dvds is pretty useless because they don't have the time for those things, but I'm not the type of person that gets people clothes or gift certificates/cards because I don't impose my style onto others and certificates/cards route says I'm lazy and not giving you money. Tools and weapons are out of the question as well because there's some unspoken code I'd be breaking, and they have pretty much everything (for tools at least).

The gift I'm giving my father I want him to open now. I'm not saying what it is, but when it involves two hillbillys going into a bailer, good times.

what to write and what to not write...

This week was dull.

The extent of labour this week was moving Johnny Sixteen and his lady friend from one house to another in the rain, and moving flagstone in the snow.

Alfred Hitchcock films are much more enjoyable than Porn movies.

Comics with Darwyn Cooke artwork is more enjoyable than any other comic book.

Lately, I look at this blog and feel unexplain guilt and dirtiness. I don't know her personally, and I don't know why.

The Thin Man is the coolest cat.

The ambition to write is not here at the moment...

There are things that happened to me the past few days, but since I've been a state of blah the past few weeks, none of it has been hitting the blog.

However, there are a few things that should be mentioned:

1). I made an impulse buy on last Saturday in which I'm not afraid talking about the splurge. I purchased The Brave and The Bold #28 for $200. It's in horrible condition, but it's one of those things if I didn't buy at the chance, I'd be beating myself on for quite awhile.

2). Da Wonger, The Asian Evel Knievel has moved back to Stampede land. He got an oil job... good luck ya bastich.

3).Mr. Fancypants went back to Stampede land as well, but I didn't find out until he was back in Stampede land. I have talk to more people on that one.

4). There's a dead mouse downstairs. We can't find it, but can find its smell.

I finally saw the film Sin City...

and I found it quite dull in most parts.

prepping for devil's night...

The Spooky House

I've been in and out of this house these past two weeks. I've had an antique hunter come in and acquire some of the surviving light fixtures, replace the floor jacks in the basement with makeshift posts, thrown out clothes that should have been thrown out fifteen years ago, and found a hole in a second floor ceiling develop by raccoons that control the attic. Now I have to prep the house for devil's night for any assholes who want to cause shit out in the country. I love halloween but hate the night before.

A collection of odds and ends...

- At the moment, I'm listening to INXS Kick on Vinyl (and no, I did not watch the show this past summer/fall)...
- On the my daily reads I've notice a lot of people talking about or are in the state of moving, here and here...
- I'm enjoying Darwyn Cooke's artwork every time I see it. I just read his "Solo" issue from DC COMICS recently and I suggest anyone reading this to find The New Frontier in TPB...
- I'm back to slowly cleaning the spooky abandon house. I threw half the clothes I found there. They either had rust stains or mold stains. Then again they should have been thrown out fifteen years ago... and the mice and raccoons are having a turf war at the house, the mice have got the kitchen while the raccoons have the attic...
- I need to take more photos for my flickr site but since the weather has been so crappy around where I live, there's nothing worth taking at the time being...

Halloween costume...

Oh I got one, and it will blows minds.
Well, if people know it, it will blows minds.
And I've been to parties where people dress up as the bad guys from "V".
(how many people remember "V")?

I don't know why I'm doing this, but I am...

I've been on MySpace more than usual recently. I'm not particularily a fan of the site, in fact I know people that left myspace because FOX bought the site, but recently I have been enjoying "find the blatantly fake profile", you know, posers who put up pictures of some amateur online stripper and say that's them. Ah maturity...

I caught something this past week and it's slowly getting out of my system, which sucks, because I wanna get better and work on my halloween costume, even though I still have no clue on what I want to be.

being open about bad grammar...

I was doing the quasi-daily reads when I notice something in the VideoAlpha intro blurb that I didn't see before, which was the promotion of bad grammar.

I don't know why, but I thought that was cool.

Seriously.

Car Hunting...

It's been a few days since the demise of the Black Sunfire. However, I haven't made much time to actually look for another vehicle. It seems for the time being whatever vehicle is next will be shared with my father, and that's not particularily good in my books because of the following...

1) The vehicle will be used as there are no new cars or trucks that are under $10,000.
2) There will be a good chance that the vehicle will be the same as a previous vehicle we've owned, like a Pontiac Sunfire, Chevrolet Cavalier, or Ford F150.
3) If the vehicle is used for farm purposes, there will be an oil stain on the upholstery within three weeks in which will be impossible to get out.
4) I'm sure that my say will be at best, a suggestion.

The only things that my father and I are agreement with getting another vehicle are the less the bells and whistles, the better, and a manual transmission because a stick shift tends to give us less problems further down the road.

I would like a Yaris Hatchback, me pop wants another sunfire so we can use the last sunfire for parts, but we will end up with something totally different like a small toyota pick up truck.

I'd put money on it, but it would be a bet I would lose.

...

... On Saturday, I took a dump in one of the worse bathrooms in the Forest City. Because of that, I will never drink two cups of coffee on the same day...

this was mentioned on another blog but due to some changes, I decided to post this gross comment on this site.

Black Sunfire: 1995-2005

My Car in the Ditch

THE SUNFIRE- At the Kerwood Auto Service, on Friday, October 14, 2005, the 1995 Pontiac Sunfire 11th year. Beloved owner of Dubs, The King of Kerwood, of Kerwood. Burrower of Da Wonger, The Asian Evel Knievel of London. Rider of Johnny Sixteen, The A/V MacGuyer of London, MacFluffyslippers of Strathroy, and Mr. Superfantastico of Parkhill. Survived by the John Saxon Fanclub, filmies, drunken fraternity friends, and Tow Truck guys that gave their life story in under an hour. At the request of Father Polevault, the sunfire with be rusting beside the usuable hopper wagons and the discs that need to be pulled out of the ground before winter hits. No Visitation. No Funeral. Purchases from any beer company and product given to the victims would be appreciated by Dubs.

A car or truck will be purchase with the same colour as a memorial to the sunfire.

LIVE DAMN YOU LIVE!!!!!

My car goes to the mechanic today. Wish it well.

squeak squeak...

It's been a few days since I last saw the mouse.

I set out a mouse trap with peanut butter on the trigger. However, the next day I saw the mouse trap with no mouse and no peanut butter.

Then again, I haven't heard any squeaky sounds from my closet.

(as I write this, my father opens up my bedroom door to show me a mouse trap with a dead mouse in it from the kitchen. His tactics is wedging a raisin into the trigger of the mouse trap.)

squeak...

Earlier tonight I saw a mouse run into my room. Usually I wouldn't give a shit but I have very large comic book collection in which I do not want damage in any sort of way. So my first instinct was to find it and kill it (yes, kill it). At first glance, it looked like it ran into the closet so I quick and removed as much stuff I could in a quiet manner as my parents were sleeping in the next room. I found two boxes that were in my closet that had nothing in them, which for some reason pissed me off because I'm someone who doesn't like wasted space. I couldn't see the mouse anywhere in my closet, then I waited a bit just to hear if it moved somewhere else in my room. It was under my legal bookcase cabinet. I quickly moved everything that was in front of the case to on top of the bed. Again, I waited for any new sounds. It was back in the closet, but stupid ass me put most of the item on the floor in my closet back.

So right now, my door is open, my floor is covered with dust bunnies, and I'm gotten paranoid enough to consider sleeping in the living room because I have four comic book long boxes on my bed, and I don't want the comics to get damaged. However, I'm waiting for the mouse to leave.

It's not like my life is interesting but I don't have much to say for now...

As I write this, I'm listening to Vinyl, realizing the rut I put myself into recently, life wise. Farm work has made everything tiresome, and I'm trying hard as possible not to fall asleep while writing. At the moment, I have nothing compelling to complain, critique, or comment about, except little personal things that would only interest some but not a lot of people.
I haven't seen The Fabulous Mr. Moy at his place in awhile. At least he takes photos and places them on flickr. He's been taking cool photos of his neighbourhood. I helped Johnny Sixteen relocate from one place to another earlier this week, and the only thing I fear about his new place are the stairs outside as they are wooden and would be slippery in the winter time.
I went to a keg party last night in London, but the only people I wanted to talk to were working bar or the door. I did take photographs, but I haven't uploaded them yet. I had to get there by the farm car as my car would not start. My car wants to die, I think. It's a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire with over 343000 kms (213140 miles) on it. I've been having problems with keeping the car on. I can't idle or it will stall and will not start. I'm waiting for the part I need so my car can get better. I haven't done any antiquing in strange small towns for awhile. However, I've been going to a coin store to buy comics (Yes, I'm aware of the possible irony). To me, most of these sentences are related, but that would involve a boring monotonous explaination that would put me to sleep.

Because tomorrow, I'm assisting in castrating bull calves and tagging them all with RFID Tags... and that's not fun.

Oh, and for everyone not from Canada, Labatt's 50 is considered a white trash beer. So 50 has the same social standing of Stella Atois in Belgium or Sapporo in Japan.

damn my curiousity...

I'm trying to think of all the books you don't read... carpet sample books, wallpaper sample books, and matchbooks are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Are there any others?

iDontgiveacrapaboutcopycontrol...

I'm a big cd collector, and a big believer of backing up things I can copy, but when I see a copy control image on a cd, I get edgy... until recently.

Last night, I was given a copy control cd (the music isn't important at this time), and the person who gave this cd to me asked if I can make a copy if possible because of the restrictions of the copy control. According to the copy control details on the cd said that the cd would not play on a Mac computer. I put the cd in my Mac computer, and I had no problems copying the cd on my Mac computer. Out of all the cds I own that have the copy control/copy protect/please don't copy me, there is one song I couldn't copy, and I cancopy that song if I borrow it from a friend that requested the cd because the copy control version would not work in his computer.

What does this tell me (in my own bizarre logic)... Copy Control hinders cd collectors from buying copy protected cds more than the regular fans, or my computer is messed up, but in a good way.

Asking for a random opinion...

Halloween costumes: "Elvis Smurf" or Harvey Birdman's Boss "Phil Ken Sebben" without knowing who I am which one would suit me better?

Being a Hermit is not good...

This past week I was helping my dad on corn silage (cow food for those city folk), and I realize that working on the farm makes me really anti-social and delusional. I did get off the farm twice, and they were for the same reason: trying not to lose my mind at my house.

Anyways, I will check out what Johnny Sixteen is doing at Aeolian Hall on Sunday, and perhaps find out what The Fabulous Mr. Moy, Kirk Trooper and The Ever Lazy and Frighten Menuhin are doing later in the week.

Other odds and ends...
- Frank Miller's Ronin is much better than Batman: The Dark Night Returns.
- Picked up some 70's David Bowie, some Arcade Fire, and the new Sigur Ros album this week, all were smart investments.
- The best comics are the ones you can easily read through, and want to read over again. The Englehart/Rogers/Austin run from Detective Comics is one along with Warren Ellis/ J.H. Williams III current series DESOLATION JONES.
- Might be changing my diet as I feel something resting on my chest when drinking cola and eating those cheesy puff things.
- It's becoming more and more pointless being on MSN Messenger... really.

Musical Interlude...

here are some of the cds I purchased in the past few months. If either Gatineau Joe, The Risk Commander, or The Fabulous Mr. Moy are reading this, I will say that your influences are appreciated.

Sigur Ros - ( ) : got in Sarnia under $10, and it was the best splurge pick up I did in Sarnia.
The Langley Schools Music Project - Innocence and Despair : Mr. Moy, the copy you have in your possession is now yours.
Stairways to Heaven : found in Sarnia, and I love those Austrailians.
Kashmir: Symphonic Led Zeppelin: just imagine Led Zeppelin music in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Rheostatics - Introducing Happiness: found in a flea market in Brantford, will be buying more albums of this group in the future.
Detachment Kit - of this blood: damn fine album.
Led Zeppelin - IV: finally have it on CD.
Chris Isaak - Heart Shaped World: I got it for the "Wicked Game" song, and I really don't believe in greatest hits albums.
The B-52's - Cosmic Thing: I saw it at a used book store for cheap, and there are some moments you need to hear "Roam".
Lee Hazlewood - These Boots are Made for Walkin': seriously, it's hard to peg what genre Hazlewood plays in, but it sounds awesome. Ideal for Johnny Cash withdrawl.
"This One's Worth Saving": there's a hotline number if I bought this, because I wasn't suppose to, but I did, but I'm too lazy to dial numbers at the moment.

Would someone please explain this to me...

I work for parents, and usually, I'm always late for work. If I'm suppose to be at work for 9:30am, I get there around 9:45-10:00am. However, I was drinking last night, quite heavily by my standards, and I call my parents saying that I'm crashing at the place (in London) where I'm doing the drinking. All they said to me was try to get back to their place by 10am. I continue drinking at the house then went to the bars, came back to the house, drank some water, then crashed on the chesterfield around 2:45am.

I woke up at 7am. I'm stone sober. I drove to Strathroy for some breakfast, then got home around 8:30am, got ready for work before 9am.

The question I raise is do I have to do excessive drinking the night before in order to be punctual for work the next day?

Possible alternatives to promote your country for freaks and geeks...

If I was a major marketing head of a travel agency, I would promote Japan to strange people this way. Hell, it will get me there (even though that would cost me an arm and a leg).

Back to School... except me...

This is the first year that I will not be going back to university (UWO for those who are curious). The horny idiot in me is going to miss it, just for the sheer stupidity of some of the first year female students going to class dressed as if they're going to the bars. As scary as it sounds, this is the only time where you see girls (not women; women are WAAAY more intelligent) wearing less at school than the peelers on the strip bars on Dundas Street because of some bizarre belief that most of these girls think they should look like some pretentious hollywood starlet. By the end of September to Mid October, these "girls" either drop out of school or come to their senses, and everything gets back to some form of normal. In all honesty, if I wanted to see the girl I just mentioned, and as I get older, I don't, I just have to go the bars on Richmond Row on a Thursday night. Personally, I feel sorry for all the master students that have to TA first year courses and deal with these people, because some of these girls can be... difficult.

What will I be doing in that time... corn silage, soyabean harvesting, and other mundane argicultural activities. I'm going to be difficult people free.

The anonymous posting is back...

I want to write to the anonymous people who leave comments, along with all the anonymous people who leave spam comments for the pure reason of making fun of them. If you actually know me and leave anonymous postings, you're just being childish. If you leave anonymous postings only for selling your product, what makes you think people will actually buy into your product? I know more creepy flea market vendors will make more money creeping people out in person than you will online.

Tell me I look beautiful...

I could never get my hair to do this with hair gel, now, it does it on its own.

Something I missed yesterday...

Yesterday, I was in Union Station in Toronto waiting for my train back to Strathroy. I had to go to the washroom. In the washroom, was one of those guess your weight and tell your fortune machines in the bathroom. I should have taken a picture of that machine because I just realize how often do you see those around now. It didn't matter if it worked or not, just knowing that there are still some around is good enough.

Getting my "Nerd On" from the weekend...

Usually when a comic book convention comes around there are those people who take pictures of the freaks, the cosplayers, and all the fat guys who are an unconfortable pale white. However, The Comic Book Expo in Toronto this past weekend didn't get that from me. I was scoring key comics for my comic book collection, and...

Neal Adams Signature

I got to meet Neal Adams.

Here are some of the key comics I scored...

All Star Western #10 - First Appearance of Johan Hex
The Saga of The Swamp Thing #20 - Alan Moore's first issue for Swamp Thing
The Saga of The Swamp Thing #37 - First Appearance of John Constantine
Weird Western Tales #39 - First Appearance of Scalphunter (part of a Western Revival from DC in the 70's)
Weird Western Tales #48 - First Appearance of Cinnamon (again, part of a Western Revival from DC in the 70's)
Green Lantern #196 - Guy Gardner first adventure as a real Green Lantern
Uncanny X-Men #131 - First Appearance of The White Queen, Emma Frost

I also completed my Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run, and my Uncanny X-Men run is at the stage of just plain creepy.

I'll admit, I had one serious "Nerd On" this weekend.

I'm gonna be writing another blog...

But the song and dance to the whole deal is that it's a blog I don't control whatsoever. I'm just writing in the comments page on a weekly basis. The blog I'm making the commenting on is This Blog Has Chlamydia. Furthermore, this idea is not original, I stole this idea from my friend "The Risk Commander".

My sole purpose is to make Menuhin, the owner of said blog, get off his ass and continue writing on his blog, or make him shut his site down out of the frustration I'm feeding him.

I'll be doing this every Tuesday if possible, and only put quotes from "Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law" until the end of September.

A new Look...

This is what happens when drinking and blogging converge. Please, friends don't let friends blog drunk.

I went pro...

The Field

I finally purchased a pro account at flickr so I can take countless photographs of odd things I see. Hopefully, by the end of the month, I can show people a picture of a tree growing in a silo.

And for those who are wondering, this picture was taken inside my dad's childhood house. I'm standing in my grandmother's room looking at the soyabeans and weeds.

Yesterday...

I read the quote from my Jones Soda which they swiped from actual fortune cookies, well the little paper that has the quotes on them. Anyways, it said "Your fantasy will come true." which was nice to read, but I start to think which fantasy, because I have a lot of fantasies, and I don't think a lot of people would appreciate that my "Killing lots of people who irk me" fantasy to come true. Furthermore, I don't think any of my sexual fantasies will see the light of day for awhile because they involve more than... well just me in them, and yeah I'm gonna stop there.

Yesterday I learned...

the hard way that I'm not allergic to bees stings... but having a bee sting you on the forehead is a total nuisance.

The Yard Sale

This morning my mother and I had a yard sale in which we only made $17.85. The ad in the local paper cost us $10.70.

All the stuff I had for sale wasn't touch, albeit, what I had for sale was bad vinyl, obscure comics from the 1990's and a VCR ideal for a mono television in which really, isn't that appealling.

However, if I want to look the part of a country yard sale buyer, I have to do one of the following...
- own either a vehicle too large for me or an A to B car where one third is covered in rust.
- wear a novelty t-shirt that came from a two four of beer.
- wear shorts that are too small for me to the point that my ass is sucking them in.
- gain 40 pounds of pure fat.
- lose hair on the top of my head but still grow the rest of the hair long (in other words, pull the classic Kim Mitchell look).
- bring a friend to critize what's for sale yet seeing them buy the item you wouldn't expect to get rid of.

And that was before the rain came...

odd rules for an odd person...

1. Don't watch people eat food.
2. Never comment on anything pertaining to Hunter S. Thompson.
3. Don't pee in the sink... wait, in any sink.

I have develop a taste for Polish beer, Zywiec to be exact. Furthermore, I damned Johnny Sixteen for introducing it to me. I also want to note that I'm intoxicated from said beer while writing this blog.

Sergio Mendes rocks.
Brian Eno rocks.

Well, Sergio Mendes doesn't rock, he does the Brasillian Jazz Bossa Nova thing, but the dude is still cool.

BURN!!!!

Yesterday, I got burned by my 94 year old grandfather on being single and unemployed at a family function. It wouldn't bug me as much but he isn't know making sharp jabs at people that quickly, let alone the sheer honesty of what said. I am working, but it's on the family farm, and I don't see the money coming to me directly, so I don't see a paycheck like normal people...

Yeah, that burn was totally legitimate.

Things to get off my chest...

1. There will be no more Anonymous postings as the result of the Beatles posting.

2. If you find a CD called The Langley School Music Project "Innocence and Despair", pick it up and be damn proud that it's in your collection.

3. My comic book collection is now over 4000 comics.

4. I miss John Tesh from Entertainment Tonight: his nihilist attitude was an excellent counterbalance to Mary Hart.

5. Johnny Cash At San Quentin on CD will never be as good as Johnny Cash At San Quentin on Vinyl.

6. John Saxon should be in more movies.

7. If people can see your farmer's tan in the moonlight with no problem, that's freaky.

A Photo from Toronto...

OBEY

See, when most people visit Toronto, they photograph the tourist spots like the CN Tower. When I go to Toronto, I take pictures of ANOTHER HYPNO-CAT!!!

His name is Stinky.
His owners are The Risk Commander and Madame Frisbee.
AND HE HAS TOTAL CONTROL OVER THEM!!!
(Well, he doesn't have thumbs to open the canned cat food with a can opener, so he's got to have someone else do it for him.)

I just want to mention...

.
I hate bales, I hate my own body sweat, but together, they make my nose work better. I could smell the laundry detergent when wiping the sweat from my brow with my shirt last night when I was moving bales.

Trust me, I'll have better stories coming after the weekend.

in the mean time... sabadabada.

The Lesson for Friday, July 29th, 2005...

if you're in some type of rut, either financial, physical, or emotional, the musical styles of Lee Hazlewood can get you out, or at least, get you rolling... and the use of Nancy Sinatra with Lee Hazlewood's musical styles is optional.

Collecting and Rambling...

R.O.B. with Gyromite Gear

Ever since I dropped out of University in January of this year, I have been occupying myself with various collecting hobbies which I am starting to realize that they're more of a problem with me as I slowly turn myself into a major introvert. I've always been an introvert, but I've notice it more this Summer with my foot injury and my house/dog/cat sitting ordeal.

the collection...

I haven't been drinking that much lately (which could be a good thing), I haven't had a cigarette since last October (which is a good thing), and I haven't gone out to the bars much (which again could be a good thing as the bars in the area reek of rednecks outside of London and reek of surrealist elitism* on Richmond Row in London) (* When I say surrealist elitism, I mean bathroom attendants at patio bars, and I somewhat see that as a problem because I tend to tip bathroom attendants pretty high because if your job was to listen to other people pee, shit, fart, vomit, and possibly fornicate, minimum wage isn't enough.)

I was going somewhere with this... ah, living in my own world due to not socializing.

Wait, I do socialize, but mostly online, but I'm disliking MSN Messenger as days go by, and MySpace is a gated community.

All I know is as I get older... wait, this involves more thought.

I don't mean to cop out at the moment, it seems I have to write more on this subject before I blog it.

ugh.

Three Films...

This film makes me gag every time I see someone eat food on screen.
This film is impossible to find on sale for cheap.
This film shouldn't be viewed with larges amounts of alcohol present. It may lead to alcohol poisoning.

For those who drink...

Check out The Family Fire Safety Drinking Game.

Yes, if someone is bored enough, another person will make a drinking game to leviate someone's boredom.

impulse...

Today, I spent $20 on one record. To some people that might be too much, but on the other hand, it was Brian Eno's Discreet Music.

Finding 1970's Eno on Vinyl in South Western Ontario is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

It's damn hard.

What I learnt today...

senior citizens over 90 years old should not let their grandchildren operate heavy duty lawn tools, like whipper snippers. Furthermore, remove your christmas lights as soon spring hits, because, well, let's just say the two things I learnt today went together, and really, they shouldn't.

check out zoomboy's blog VideoAlpha... stay for the TRS-80 computer and the Edison cylinder photos.

by the way...

There's a reason why I haven't mention anything from my dog sitting ordeal, then again, I know a lot of people who don't want to hear about the 37 year old grandmother I met along with the mother and daughter working on the same shift in a nudie bar in redneck ontario.

no phone or internet for a week... ah crap...

As I am going to live in someone's else house for a week, no one is going to hear from me. The place I'm going to had their phone taken out by lightning a few days ago and the internet is dial-up from the phone company so I won't be up on Warren Ellis, Boing Boing, Comic Book Resources, imdb, and all the sites I check out on a regular basis.*

What will I be doing? I will be looking after animals and plants and will be reading a shitload of comics. Here's a taste of what I will get to and try to get to in these seven days... Vigilante (early 80's), Omega Men (90% of the whole series), Flash (Barry Allen, not Wally West), The New Guardians, Dead Again, Justice League America (Bits and pieces),V for Vendetta (Moore and Lloyd), Doom Patrol (Most of Grant Morrison's run), Automatic Kafka (Casey and Wood... slowly going through), and a bunch of other DC Comics from the 70's and 80's.

I would do other things but that would involve money, and I won't be getting that until after the job is done.

That's all I got... see your sites in a week.

*That's just a fraction of what I check out... later.

Coffee

The Rope Dolly Track...

My Dad wants to shoot a dolly track style shot of the house using "swing" rope for a documentary about the house he grew up in. I'm all for it but we're still in a preproduction phase. I also want to note that my father's has no filmmaking background whatsoever while I went to study film theory at an university known more for its Football, Medical, and Business schools rather than its arts programs. This is where hillbilly smarts and scholastic drop outs intuition work together*...

The Rope Dolly Track - The Device
This is the "Device" where the camera sits for the shot...

The Rope Dolly Track - The Tree
Where the starting point is near the road...

The Rope Dolly Track - The Tractor
and end close to this tractor

The Rope Dolly Track - The Rope Tighten
just so we take a dolly shot of the house...

Were there problems?
Yes.

What were they?
- Wind: it was a windy day
- Length of the swing rope dolly track: too long
- Ergonomics the device: meant for a right handed person, not a lefty like me
- Sound: all you heard was swing rope and wind
- Video camera battery: 1999 DV Camera + poor battery = had to run before battery died
- Lack of preproduction: failing to plan is planning to fail

Was there anything good out of the whole ordeal?
- It was a sunny day
- The camera still works after years of not being used
- I got some exercise.
- Father-Son quality time

Of all bad things that happened, did we learn anything?
- use less farm junk and use climber's equipment the next time around (thanks Risk Commander for that suggestion)
- cut the length of rope track in half or more
- storyboard everything
- improve the design of the device

Did we truly learn anything?
Not really.

*Hillbilly smarts is somewhat like MacGuyver smarts, but more injuries are involved... but you have to admit that MacGuyver wouldn't have made a flashlight from a carbulb from an 1982 Mercury Cougar, a battery from a small driving lawnmower, and a stand made from bits of a metal wire plant holder...

this that and the other thing...

yesterday, my dad got a step jack in the face and he's got sore teeth out of the deal... now my teeth feel sore because his teeth are sore... really dunno why... probably sympathy... added more pics on my flickr site mostly self portraits... not exciting but something is there... i decided the next time i get a vehicle, it has to have AC and be a standard transmission... i feel that i am part of the vehicle when it's a standard...

the next blog will tell the story of the swing rope dolly track...

gotta bug ya for my own enjoyment...

Okay, a few weekends ago I crashed at Johnny Sixteen's place and I slept in his roommate's room because she wasn't home at the time (my thinking was why sleep on a couch when there's a empty bed). Anyways, I wanted to get back at her on an action she pulled on me during Johnny Sixteen's birthday (long story short, I was the bitch), and I wanted to go psychological rather than physical. This is what I did: I made her bed, put a 3x5 card on the bed which I wrote that I tied all her bras and undies together but in reality didn't perform the action because I wanted to go psychological rather than physical.

Her reaction: no idea. Johnny hasn't seen her for roughly two weeks now, but he's not complaining because the place has gotten super mellow there. Anywho, I would like to hear how she would have reacted.

Yes, I know how evil I can be.

for no reason, a quiz...

Sometimes you do these things to prep for something else...

You scored as Romanticist. Romanticism encourages society to look backwards to find our solutions. Your rationale is that things were much better a few hundred years ago so we should thus look back to those times and replace them in our modern society. You believe in a simple life and that the complexities of the modern world have turned it upside down.

another bizarre hobby...

the new thing I'm checking out are flags. In the event I move out of the place I'm at right now I'm going to need "curtains" and what says cheap and cool looking curtains than flags. At the moment I got Wales, England, and Falkland Islands right now with a mini flag on a stick of Nunavut. I'm looking for two more flags, either something from the Carribean, a british territory in the middle of nowhere, Greenland, or even US state flag that's a flag, not the state crest on a flag.

However, cheap flags are few and far between. I might have to look for flags in flea markets or town fairs as "Fair Season" is upon us. Tee Hee.

- Saturday Morning: Cartoons' Greatest Hits
- CHRW Radio Sampler - This One's Worth Saving
- The Cranberries : No Need to Argue
- Living Colour: Vivid

Torn...

Right now, I'm wondering if I should put The Zit Remedy Song on my iPod.

Friday, June 10, 2005

Ah Rejection...

Found this on the WFMU blogsite... Girl Talk... losers. It brings back memories, not necessarily from this game.

The farmwork makes me wacky...

at the moment, I feel like I don't function like everyone else. I can't concentrate on anything for no longer than maybe 15 to 20 minutes, so the only things I can accomplish that I want to accomplish are reading comics and reading articles from Wired magazine.

Cutting hay has become both calm and frustrating. Calm because I'm outside, I'm getting a bit of a breeze, and I'm getting fresh air. Frustrating because it take so long to cut a row and I can't speed things up to go faster because the haybine has to be at a set pace in order to cut properly. Right now, I want it to steadily rain an inch or two just so I can get a few days off. That and I really need to go to another city to check out vintage crapola. Finding Wham! on Vinyl a few days ago was cool, but it didn't feed the need for shopping for things no one else wants.

Thursday, June 09, 2005

oh those impulses...

Today I went to the comic book shoppe I regularily hit, and I decided to hit the "sets bin", I've laying off the sets bin for a couple of months because I am still backlogged in comics I bought from last year but I'm getting off topic a bit, anyways, I saw the complete series of "V for Vendetta" for $25. The impulse urge pretty much went into overdrive at that point, which resulted in me not buying armpit deodorant, which I really should have bought because I'm out of it and it's very very sticky outside.

However, I won't start Moore and Lloyd's "V for Vendetta" until I finish reading Casey and Wood's "Automatic Kafka".

Proud Owner of a Nunavut Flag...

yep... I also stopped in the Masonville area to score these...
What the Chuck!?
It's like I robbed Ronald McDonald's defective footwear.

The flag I scored at The Fabulous Mr. Moy and The Magnificent Niffer's "Minty Manor Madness Yard Sale"... I also got a Ploughing Ruler, Beer Drinking Glasses, and a Video set from the Ontario Service Safety Alliance. That last one will have a review of it on The Tape Hunters site in the near future.

Well, the air conditioner is in...

I just help my mom putting the air conditioner in this morning as I wait for my dad to come back from the other farm for today's work to do list, but he says to me it sounds like the noise adults make in Peanuts cartoons. Since it rain this morning, it might be a bit for cutting hay.

I am really torn for garage sales for tomorrow... will I go E.O.A./N.O.D.* or Komoka. I've heard that The Fabulous Mr. Moy and The Magnificent Niffer are having a yard sale, and I know they could sell cool stuff, but the small town drive around you can find some insane deals for insane things. Really, I am torn... (E.O.A./N.O.D. = East of Adelaide/North of Dundas)

The blog pots...

I've gotten to the point where I collected so many links of blogs from blog hopping, I've separated all my blog pots into levels (Farm work makes you do odd things when you don't go out in public).

blog pot omega (almost everyone starts there)
blog pot delta (mainly photography blogs)
blog pot gamma (blogs I check weekly)
blog pot beta (blogs I check semi-daily)
blog pot alpha (blogs of people I actually met, and got drunk at their house)

why am I doing this... I enjoy writing the words blog and pot side by side and would like others to tag along... well, not really, well really I don't care.

I've been driving a tractor all day, and it's making me a bit silly.

Stanwyck vs. Portman...

This is what I call a smart move.

counters and whatnot...

a friend asked why I don't have a counter on my blog... well, one reason why I don't have a counter is that it's kind of a sad reminder of how many people check your site just on numbers, and I'm grieving on the tragedy when seven ate nine.

experiment... let's say your in a sports town and you're not a sportsfan, and you're in a dive bar with rowdy drunks, and they're yelling out the team name (like "Go Sox Go", for example), reply back with "take off your clothes" in the same style of chant the drunks are doing it. guarantee humour.

comics front... I am started to collect Grant Morrison's run of "Doom Partol", but I won't be able to read it until I get free time, which seems to be a luxury, which really sucks.

most people know their chinese zodiac animal, but do you know your element (fire, water, metal, earth, wood). It feng shui thing, but hey, mix and match can work in some odd situations.

I thinks it sleep time...

The astrological sign alone is useless, it needs to team-up...

When you check out a person's profile on blogger, you get the astrological sign which is usually your sun sign. What about the moon sign? The sun sign is the outward expression, the moon sign influences your emotion level, how to react in situations, and what you inherit from your ancestors.

Try and guess my moon sign... you got a one in twelve chance.

I'm in London for the weekend for Cinema Subterrain. The Memorial Cup starts this weekend at the John Labatt Centre. That means I will probably pay an arm and a leg for parking in downtown London, Ontario.

Tomorrow I Hunt in Strathroy...

The town of Strathroy is having their Town Wide Garage Sale tomorrow, and I will be there... hunting for bargains, hunting for odd trinkets, hunting for something obscure. The main goal is to find a good starting point, then spread out. Three locations seem to be the front runners to start out. The Old Arena on Metcalfe Street, "The Old West" (anything West pass Dominion St.), or Carroll Street on the southend. After that, ah, go nuts.

And for something completely different, GO READ DESOLATION JONES BY WARREN ELLIS AND J.H. WILLIAMS III !!!!
(it's a comic under the Wildstorm imprint)

Thank you

Say, where the hell have you been?...

Yeah, I've been somewhat out of it when it comes to blogging these last few days. However, when you see a band that gives you a literal "mindfuck", it can actually alter your vibe for a bit...

This was a start of a blog I planned to do last week... So me and Johnny Sixteen saw Negativland perform in the Kitchener City Hall Council Chamber on Saturday night, and I have to admit that they really need to put warnings on their performances like "please do not operate heavy machinery after one of our shows". Why you ask... well, the show was a total mindfuck.... The show was good, but I couldn't produce any good writing out for a few days. I wanted to explain the setting in detail, but for me it felt insane in a dull way... well more hard to explain even though it could be explained properly.

Other odds and ends: picked up "lcd soundsystem" the same time I picked up my mom's mother's day gift of "The Very Best of the Everly Brothers", and both cds are pretty cool.

I am getting more of the those "SMS.AC" e-mails from people who don't want to talk to me... there is a piece of me that wants to tell these people to piss off, but I really don't want to see what their soap opera of a life they have now.

I went to a small town in Lambton County in a video store where they were selling their stock. I found, and bought the following:
Ghost Dad (the Bill Cosby masterpiece directed by Sidney Poitier)
Disorderies (The Fat Boys and Ralph Bellamy, together...yeah)
Breakin' (I didn't see the Breakin' two: Electric Boogaloo though)
Vibes (Jeff Goldblum and Cyndi Lauper with psychic powers)
The NeverEnding Story (Sorry, no wiseass comment)
Mutant Video (Not Mentioned on IMDB, but has James Belushi)
Gunslinger (Written and Directed by Roger Corman)
Knightriders (Written and Directed by George A. Romero)
Roller Derbys Greatest Highlights (WHICH WAS AWESOME)

I saw "The Long Good Friday" with Bob Hoskins for the first time... WOW. This is a movie you should watch if you are into British Mob films, and if you want to see Pierce Bronson in a bit part that's very anti-James Bond.

Man, maybe I should write more often...

Joey was a capitalist, Johnny was a republican...

This foot injury proves to me how bored I can get at my own house. For a good half hour, I was thinking of witty MSN Messenger nicknames.

Yesterday, I picked up two 1970's John Saxon films at a surplus store, but I must watch these films with Chemical Amy, Bobby Muppet, Lady Goldie, and The Risk Commander, because movies this bad need company.

Sometimes, even I can't stomach the sight of my foot...

I was planning to show more pictures of my left foot, but the sight of my own foot has grossed me out. My friend Madame Frisbee is a physio-therapist in Toronto, and she informed me about this Traumeel Cream and Arnica Pellets. I have no clue if the pellets are working but I think the cream. The swelling has gone down, but the bruising discoloration has gone to my toes. I now have every colour of the rainbow on my foot and it's really gross.

Other things that happened in the past few days...

I went to a Toy and Collectables show/sale in Komoka (west/south west of London) with my Mom (I got a standard, but her car has A/C) and essentially saw most of the stuff I seen in the past few weeks travelling around in one spot, and most of it was not outstanding except for these large Planters Peanuts jars which a newborn baby could get his or her head stuck in, pending if they had the mobility...

I got an automated e-mail from my ex, which I thought she would have the widsom to remove my e-mail, or at least inform the company that sent the e-mail to remove my name from the list. I don't hate her or anything, but the level of frustration when we're near each other is pretty high and the automated e-mail feels like an unintentional taunt. Please don't ask why...

I found out I can fly with crutches when going across a crosswalk, kind of like the butterfly swim...

Since I picked up my weekly comics yesterday, I am back on catching up on my comics backlog...

bits and pieces...

Cinema Subterrain is tomorrow, and it's going to be a Craig Baldwin mini retrospective. I haven't seen "tribulations 99" yet so it will a bit of a surprise.

This blog address I dig for some reason: http://recoveringmba.blogspot.com/. Just saw the name, but I haven't read it yet.

A bizarre side effect from my injury on Monday: I've developed two bruises under my knee cap on both legs. I have no idea how I got them.

I am slowly reading my comics again, but I can't make an update on the list until my heel improves.

This foot injury really sucks ass. It's making me dull like Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol.

This is a beer stein. I won this beer stein at my fraternity formal on Saturday. How did I win this beer stein? By vomitting out of a second storey window and dancing to Beastie Boys' Sabotage on Video while drunk on 2/3 of a bottle of Screech a couple of weeks back. The thing is that I only visit the fraternity maybe once or twice a year. They heard about it from other sources. To me, this is freaky.

on golden water...

Gold Water
This is the colour of the water at my house when its cold. The runoff "water' of the silage pit has gone into the well water. We don't drink the well water, but we have to wash in it. I would go into smell but I have standards.

The Comic Backlog Countdown...

If you think that title sounds boring, well, you might be right if you don't read comics. Long story short, or story-try-to-explain-properly-in-my-own-way, since late December 2004, there has been a stack of comics on top of my comic book boxes. I have been slowly, and I truly mean slowly, going through these cheap comics I purchase at comic book stores and now antiques shoppes and flea markets. Everything I have been reading is from DC Comics. I have bought some Marvel Comics, but I would bag them up and store them imediately because I don't give a shit for the moment and when you see a couple of comics from Frank Miller's Daredevil run for fifty cents, it would be stupid to leave them alone. Anywho, for every blog I do for now on, I am going to mention how many comics I have to read until the pile(s) is (are) gone.

Oh boy...

I have been spring cleaning today... and it totally beats moving large rocks like I did yesterday. I am also going to work on jobs that should have been completed since before my birthday. I must say winter makes you lazy.

and for those people who are interested, the Omnibot is not mine, it's Johnny Sixteen's (16's didn't look right).

FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE LAME...

I picked up DC Comics "Countdown to Infinite Crisis" today, and I'm realizing that most of the characters in "Formerly Known as the Justice League" mini-series are getting hosed.

It's a letdown if you like dorky characters, but if you want to make an excellent omelet, you have to break the eggs.

By the way, "Countdown to Infinite Crisis" is an interesting read. I would say more but I don't want to spoil the story for others.

Jones Fortunes...

Today, I had two bottles of Jones Soda. My first fortune cap said "Working life will become more varied. Try some new ideas." A couple of hours later when I bought the second bottle, my fortune cap said "Hide for a few days." In all honesty, I'm gonna try both.

A Post Henry Ford Detroit...

Eye Control and The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit are two sites proving that Henry Ford was the man for the 20th Century, not the 21th.

Tag back at you Niffer...

Okay, this whole tagged thing by The Magnificent Niffer on books and what not got me thinking, realizing that I can not remember the last time I read "a book". I have read magazine articles from Wired and Comics Journal, I read the newspaper whenever someone in our house picks one up, I'll read a blog that would keep my interest, and people who know me knows that I read comics. So, I am going try these seven questions, and try my best and not to use comics.

1. What book would I like to be?
Either an instuction manual for some dead tech or "Art Tech" like Laser Disc Players or Video DIsc Players, or one of those test books for kids who have learning disabilities.

2. Have I ever had a crush on a fictional character?
This feels like a bad Star Trek: The Next Generation episode. I gotta say no on this one because, well the characters that I dig were too young like Alice from Alice in Wonderland, or married like Odysseus' Wife in The Odyssey of Homer. Wait, I'll say I have a crush on the Marlin in Hemingway's Old Man in the Sea because that's one bitchin fish.

3. What is the last book I bought?
Alexei Sayle's Over Taken. I got the book because I saw a comic in the magazine section and I didn't want to spend just $3 on my credit card for a comic.

4. What is the last book I read?
I know Text Books don't count... Parker's Astrology by Julia and Derek Parker would the last book, but it wasn't a narrative... I think the last narrative book I read was Waterland, and I can't remember who wrote that.

5. What book am I currently reading?
Comic Books - I bought some runs and sets in the past few months and I am slowly going through them. I only have one tenth done on the series The Omega Men from DC Comics.

6. What 5 books would I take with me if I were stranded on a desert island?

I don't think I would choose to be stranded on a desert island, I think I would be put there against my will and I would probably have literature that I don't want near my presence and therefore use for the purpose of burning to keep warm. These would be books I would take to burn for my survival, not for my pleasure.

1. The Random House Compact Unabridged Dictionary: it's a pretty big book, it would keep me warm.
2. A major city Phonebook with Yellow Pages: well it's not like I'm going to be ordering a pizza on a desert island.
3. Anything written by a money grabbing tele-evangelist: well, I'm going to need toilet paper.
4. A carpet book: I'll need a pillow of some sort.
5. The Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engels, I'll use it as a guideline to my madness.

However, if it was comics (graphic novels) and it was my choice it would be
1. Watchmen - Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
2. Understanding Comics - Scott McCloud
3. Crisis on Infinite Earths - Marv Wolfman & George Perez
4. Sandman: Seasons of Mist - Neil Gaiman and some artist
5. Starman: Sins of the Father - James Robinson and Tony Harris

7. What 3 people am I going to tag with these questions and why?

Johnny #16, the A/V MacGuyver - His birthday is coming up and he knows that he has to prepare for the firey ritual of carousel, and he can do it through research.

Chemical Aimee - It's her week off in Japan, and I already know she's reading books from a "The Smiths" Fan.

I'm stopping it there because If Johnny replies, he'd put under two or three different identities, and Aim's will reply to it where no one would see it.

She would.

a moment earlier in the week...

My Car in the Ditch

that's my car in the ditch... in front of my own house... yeah.

I've been everywhere man...

From 7pm Saturday Night to 7pm Sunday Night I went to the following communities/towns/cities...

Alvinston, Appin, Bright's Grove, Errol, Glencoe, Grand Bend, Kerwood, Keyser, Komoka, Lobo, London, Mandaumin, Mount Brydges, Napier, Northville, Parkhill, Poplar Hill, Ravenswood, Sarnia, Strathroy, Stoney Point, Sylvan, Thedford, Watford, Wyoming

I also want to mention that there were more places I went, I just can't remember them all.
I'm also kicking myself for not bringing my digital camera with me because there were things in Sarnia and Northville that words can not give full justice, like an "Omnibot" and "Glen Quagmire's Bar".

Adventures in Flea Markets...

Today has been a bonanza of Flea Market travelling, particularily Flea Markets I've never been to. This morning I went to two Flea and Farmer's Markets, one in Strathroy and one east of London. The Family Flea And Farmers Market in North Strathroy was small and quick, but I think I miss half of the flea market. What I found was mostly food and lamps with images of dead NASCAR drivers on them. I might go back there in a few weeks but I'm not too sure. However, the Trail's End Farmer's Market/London Sales Arena East of London was huge. It didn't have that creepiness that Gibraltar has, but it didn't the massive amount of crap booths either. However, I did score the following:

Comic
Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld #13 for $1

CDs
Patti Smith - Horses for $4 (this was a wise impulse buy)
R.E.M. - Document for $5
The Soundtrack to Kids in The Hall Brain Candy for $5

This afternoon I went south of Mount Brydges to the Hilltop Old Tyme Antique/Fleamarket. What was odd, yet neat with this place is how you can tell where the flea market section is and where the antiques section is with a faux 50's mom & pop dinner splitting the two. I found a lot of 8mm film accessories and Video Disc Movies like Ghostbusters, but nothing worth picking up today. This place I know I have to take Johnny #16 to because well, it's on "The Duece" (Hwy #2).

After all this travelling I decided to go to Arkona. There is nothing exciting in Arkona, I just felt like I should go there.

Compassivity is not a word and here are the coles notes for the last eight days...

Friday, March 18 - I went to a bar in Strathroy that I haven't gone to since the late 90's to hear some old friends play cover tunes. In short, I found out the bar went from low class dive or "The Embassy" style to high class dive or "The Old Vic" style (If you're from London, Ontario, you would know what I am talking about). I also took the time to check out Johnny #16's first VJ show he had over at the Artlab at UWO. I gotta say that analog video mixing boards that refuse to work with DVD Players are cool.

Saturday, March 19 - The 2005 UWO Film Festival and Cinema Subterrain were going on roughly at the same time, while I have seen most of the Cinema Subterrain's March screening of "Forgotten Heroes: A Screening of Super Hero TV Pilots and Movies That Never Saw The Light of Day", I opted to see the student films. This year's selection was pretty good... the "High School Poetry on Video" films were very low, the filmmakers that were known for "All Style - No Substance" had substance, and none of the movies had radiohead music in them. The Festival started at 6pm and finished before 9pm, so it gave me enough time to have a beer with Commander Risk & Lady Goldie and the filmmaker that won grand prize. Then I went to Cinema Subterrain, to find out it was overpacked (The Fanboys outnumbered the Cool Geeks). When Cinema Subterrain was done, I headed to the After party for the Film Festival....

Sunday, March 20 - I drank 2/3rds of a bottle of Screech (Newfoumdland/Jamaican Rum)... Straight... between 12:15am and I think 3am... there is video footage of me dancing to Beastie Boys "Sabotage"... I licked someone's face... some kissed me on the cheek... I think... and I vomitted out of a second storey window onto a sidewalk... other things happened as well, but I can't recall everything.

I passed out on the couch...

I woke up in the morning therefore losing my Darwin Award which I try to nominate myself for, drove to the place Lady Goldie crashed at saying she needed the ride earlier that morning during the screech time, to opting for the bus instead (which I thank her for that now). Headed to Johnny #16 place so we could drop off Movie Theatre in a Bag north of town as he lived in the south... realized that:
1) I had the 1st cousin of all hangovers, not too far from the Mother of all Hangovers...
2) The Downtown London Ontario Potholes are more noticeable with a hangover...

I Drove home and tried to recover, but didn't eat properly until...

Monday, March 21 - still recovering from Sunday, and realizing that i needed to move around so I drove to Petrolia for kicks... I didn't know the town had an Antiques Row that wasn't open until Wednesday. but the bright side to the day was finding the song from that Discofinska/Finnish Disco Lesson video I found online on iTunes Music Store Canada. The song: "Moskau"; the band: Dschinghis Khan; a German Pop/Disco band from the late1970's.

Tuesday, March 22 still recovering from Sunday... this time found Boney M.'s Rasputin (by other means other than iTunes)... was going on a "Russian Music not done by Russians" mood I guess...

Wednesday, March 23 - Tattoo Gill, The man who had the blog Brain Medicine closed it down and started This Blog Has Chlamydia. I asked if him if he planned to close down this blog, I wanted to take it over because I love the name and wished I thought of it first.

Thursday, March 24 - Went to Petrolia, found the Petrolia Flea market, and almost lost it. It was kind of like the Crossroads Flea Market in Brantford, but messier and Betamax video tapes replacing the Video Discs.

Friday, March 25 - Catching up on lots of things... music listening, comic book reading, sleeping, and blog writing... and I finally realized that iTunes Music Store makes me want to by more CDs.

Here are some of the CD purchases in the last few days:
The Beta Band - The Three E.P.'s
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Guitar Wolf - Planet of the Wolves
Various Artists - If I Were a Carpenter (Pre-mainstream Bands doing The Carpenters covers)

Three of those CDs I bought I had one song from iTunes Music Store... and all of it is good.

Well, I'm caught up.

Thursday, March 24, 2005

I have zoned out...

Okay, I have to mention everything that has happened to me in the past week, however, I am in no mental compassivity to do anything about it right now. Gimme a few.

Thursday, March 17, 2005

um, how can I put it...

Okay, when someone does this, I shake my head, but I would also be calling the kettle black because I pulled this stunt in 2001 with the classic yet silly "Hell Hair". I know the guy, and if he actually goes through with it, he will get a nickname from me. (Screw it, he's getting the nickname Tattoo Gill).

I got so excited, I almost squealed with glee...

Last night, I was talking to a friend on comics and kids shows we remember when we were younger (even though there is a seven year difference between us) particularly the children's programming for TV Ontario (a Provincial Education Station... kind of like PBS). Anyways, when I got home, I got thinking, if someone else was a fan of these shows, there's going to be websites on them.

I first went on Google and started with just single shows like "Jeremy" and "Hippoworks" in which I couldn't find much. Then I slightly change the name of one of the shows from "Jeremy" to "Jeremy the Bear"... childhood memory jackpot. As usual, TV shows change their name when they are in different countries: It was only "Jeremy the Bear" in Canada (English speaking Canada to exact), but "Barnaby the Bear" in the UK, and "Colargol" in continential Europe.

Next, instead of the name of the show itself, I went for a lyric of a show "in the green forest", because, well honestly I couldn't remember the name of the show... this is where the almost squeal came in.

Classic TVO Kids Shows
TVO Kids Shows

When I found all this, it was after midnight. My friends that would know all this stuff (particularily Chemical Aimee, and Johnny #16) were sleeping or working, so I waited until this morning show to tell them.

They didn't have the same reaction as me, but it was close.

oly crap...

I just realized how boring my life can get to others. Then again, if you're blog hopping, you wouldn't care that much.

i can't breathe in this thing...

Today, I did something I haven't done in weeks... work. I help my dad move a gate in the barn on our property, it wasn't a big deal but, the blowing snow and -10 degree Celcius temperature kind of made the job a pain... and that I decided to run to the barn in cold weather (I never had breathing problems like this since I was smoking). I tried doing stuff I haven't done in days like watch tv, but I still can't get into it... not even Jon Stewart.

Tomorrow, I have to head London to pick up comic book supplies, 7' vinyl supplies and additions to the fourth and final wedding gift to Stinky the Cat's Caretakers, Commander Risk and Madame Frisbee. I also have to drop off Johnny #16's stuff at his place.

I just hope the weather won't suck so much ass.

Something to look at...

I've been checking out this one guy's site for quite awhile now (well since I saw the link on boing boing)

www.joeyharrison.com

I don't know the guy, but holy shit has he taken some awesome pictures of Detroit and Las Vegas, and I mean the worn down areas of these towns.

I was planning to put new pics on this site but flickr was down for the moment.

a day of nothing...

yep.

Well, I found out after all the comics I bought in the past three months (most of them were a buck or less) I had to do some catch up on reading, and when I mean catch up, I mean dwindle a 155 comic pile to zero (I aim at 20 comics a day if possible).

Probably by midnight, I will be half way through Grant Morrison's run of Animal Man, which is a excellent 1st run for a writer working for a mainstream company.

Antique Cruising...

I went to St.Thomas this morning to check out the Flea Market there to find out that there's no flea market open on Saturday (and for a small city of 33,000 you would think there would be a Flea Market open on Saturday). My Consolation prize was one of the Antiques stores on the main drag in downtown St. Thomas where I found more "gifts" for Johnny #16 birthday which is in a few weeks. After leaving that shoppe, I thought I would check out some of the Antique shoppe/warehouses in Lambeth neighbourhood (an old village taken over by the city of London in the 1990's). Usually when I look around antique stores I look for the following: comic books anything super 8mm, and 16mm film related. Comic books because antique dealers either overprice or underprice comics and when they do the latter, you quietly purchase as many you can afford. Anything that's super 8mm, and 16mm film related because the super 8mm & 16mm films are a piece of history, the projectors can be fix given time, and you can still get film for super 8mm cameras, you just got to talk to the right people.

Lambeth didn't have much in lines of the two things I was looking for, but I did find this...
TV Devices
I do know it's television related, I just forgot exactly what they are called at the moment.

btw...

I got a haircut yesterday and now look like curious george with glasses. What's stranger is that it actually suits me.

Sitting on my ass is great but...

I'm actually starting to get bored, wait, lemme get the right words for this situation.. no bored is the right word. I've been doing alot of blog hopping today. For every good blog, there has been about 19 dull ones (but I am rehashing an earlier entry a couple of months back). And when I'm not online I'm trying to catch up on comic book reading (I tend to pick up $1.25 comics in the cheap bins in comic books store in London and Sarnia). Television has lost its charm lately, I don't care the entertainment news for the moment, it's really hard watching Canadian news with the RCMP killings in Alberta, and the Weather Network isn't as addictive to watch lately.

I've listened to Brain Eno, Aphex Twin, mash-up Beatles songs, Death from Above 1979, and a Depeche Mode Gameboy Megamix, and after everything I listen to, I think someone should be mashing Kylie Minogue songs with Polka music. Think about it, that "I can't get you outta my head" song has a polka beat to it. You can totally see Walter Ostenak play the song.

The Blog Pot for Friday March 4th...

Okay for those that don't know what a blog pot is, a blog pot is a group of blogs that are not daily readings but worthy of holding a bookmark to because they were either cool or strange enough to see again (think of it a car wreck, or an oddly dressed drunkard for blogs). These are those blogs you find by fluke when you press the next blog button on the blogger network.

Anyways here are a couple of blogs I check out on a semi-daily basis...

Aimee's Adventures in Japan
Niffer's Pidgets and Other Fine Stuff
angelearthnews
Shaken, not Stirred
News of the dead

The flow at moodstats ain't going...

I checked out my moodstats today and I see how dead it is at that site. The last time I was on moodstats was around February 15th, and when I checked the site out today I was still considered one of the recent syncs. Furthermore, that would still make me a regular on the beetle farm.

Yikes.

Some moments of TOUR DE DUBS: TORONTO...

Well, me and Johnny #16 (Also known as A.V. MacGuyver... everyone gets new nicknames on the tour) went to Toronto via 403 on Thursday and had to make a stop in Brantford...
Brantford via 403
which isn't a big deal unless you're a fan of old bizarre flash movies on the web...
all your bass are belong to us
(We're aware the spelling is wrong, but you gotta give one for effort, really)

We got to the home of Stinky the Cat and played Drunken Risk with Macintoss Klink (Also known as Commander Risk) which I received my x-mas gift from Aimee from Japan...
Freaky Gift from Japan
The gum that came with this cardboard thing-a-majig tasted great... very Juicy Fruit-like.

After that, it was a bit of a blur, all I know is that there is video footage... yeah.

So, after all the bacon, sightseeing, comic book buying, music buying, and mystery spicy food, I decided to go home on Saturday morning (and planted a plastic snake near the entertainment unit).

The trip home was solo and I went the old hwy #2 route as much as possible...
Smoke Stacks in Hamilton
Went by Hamilton, got lost in Hamilton, got to Brantford, got lost in Brantford, took the 403 until Woodstock because I wanted to stop in a collectables store (Note to self: If I work in or own a collectables store, make sure it's large).

Yeah, that's pretty much it, unless I see the video footage.

I will be in Toronto the next few days.... and yes I will take pictures on the way.

factory celebrity death...

When I read various MSN nicknames of friends to the passing of Hunter S. Thompson, I thought "holy shit, can you be any cheesier". When some people hear the death of someone, their reaction seems odd to me... some people become overtly passionate and irrational while others become totally silent. However, once I read Warren Ellis's perspective on Hunter S. Thompson's Death, my feelings about it felt both terrible and vindicated.

What makes Thompson's death even more odd was how the American and some Canadian news handle it, as a factory celebrity death. I would rather hear how the person died in detail rather than "this person died today of such and such, and that person died yesterday of these causes". Let's hope they change the style of "factory celebrity death" reporting in twenty years.

The "Soundtrack" to Tour de Dubs 2005...

The Fabulous Mr. Hoy (formally known as Chip MacWebb) gave me a $20 gift certificate to itms-c as I took the time to make the "Soundtrack" to TOUR de DUBS 2005 (as anyone with iTunes can get these songs in the music store).

TOUR de DUBS 2005...

Tour de Dubs is a birthday celebration as I reach my last birthday in the twenties, (as I shall be twenty-nine tomorrow). If this was a rock concert tour, the tour t-shirt would be a cross between Kraftwerk's tour t-shirts and the Che Guevara two tone t-shirt, except it would be John Saxon's head instead of Che's head.

Anywho, here are some the gifts I received from the man who is Hellaboss.
Hipster PDA
Pen of Doom
Yes, it's the pen of doom and Hipster PDA.
