That Console Guy

...
threecons

I now own four consoles: The Odyssey 2 from Phillips/Magnavox, the Intellivision from Mattel, the Nintendo Entertainment System from Nintendo, and the PS One from Sony. The Odyssey and Intellivision probably be put away as soon as I can find space in my room. My Nintendo only comes out once in awhile, though I know that the RF switch is shot on it now like the audio/video connections. The PS One hasn't been used as a game system for a few months, I am using it as my CD player for my stereo, as the CD player on my stereo is busted.

I am slowly cleaning my room, removing items I know I won't use, but being fully aware that my friends would. I did notice that the banquet table that has all my comics on it is starting to buckle: there is a bow starting to develop and one of the corners is starting to give way.

Probably sometime in mid-September my room might have considerably less stuff.

Moving Video Games of Tomorrow

tucvg
The tag for Phillips (or Magnavox depending where you're from) video game console...
odyssey2
The Odyssey2.

The System came out around 1978, around the same time as the Intellivision, but I don't think it lasted too long on the market, because the graphics were less the graphic, even by late 1970's computer standards.

I got it for helping A.V. MacGuyver moved from Whitehills in London to London's street with many names (Ridout/Upper Queen/Dixon/Ernest "street").

CD Purchasing and Pursuing Trivial Pursuit

A few days ago, I mentioned that I bought Sonic Nurse by Sonic Youth and Van Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn. Well, I bought five more CDs: Veni Vidi Vicious from The Hives, Run-DMC Greatest Hits by, well Run-DMC, Beastie Boys Check Your Head and Ill Communication. Each CD was 10 bucks or less. I also scored Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555 which included Daft Club CD with the DVD. The Video Musical was cool, almost as cool as DJ Qbert's Wave Twisters, but not quite.

I also scored two Trivial Pursuit Master Games at Goodwill on Wednesday: Genus II Edition and The Baby Boomer Edition. So, with those two board games, that brings the Trivial Pursuit sets I have up to five. Now I have the urge to look for the Subsidary Card sets like the Silver Screen edition, All-Star Sports edition, and the hard to find cheap RPM (History of Music) edition.

Tomorrow, I write, I hope.

I gotta write some articles, but I have to get to them in the morning. One for A.V. MacGuyver, two for the filmies at The Rod. Honestly, I really got to stop watching TV.

Cleaning the spooky house

I am taking a short break from cleaning the spooky house. The amount of garbage is insane. I would show you pictures but my digital camera is low on batteries.

This message is being recorded...

Cleaning a house that hasn't been lived in for 14 years seems a bit pointless, but if you're planning to shoot something in that house, the cleaning feels good. The garbage I found was horrendous: I found a Re-Elect Jack Riddel campaign poster from the 1980's (Provincial Liberals, I think he's dead now), boxes for collector plates and a forest of old Christmas trees from the 1970's. There are still tons of papers I have to go through like old public school teaching aids and harnness racing magazines. It should take me a few days to go through, but I have made writing plans for two groups of people which one has to be done by Wednesday.

I have also started cleaning my archives on my MSN Messenger which has been a bigger hassle than originally thought. I saved about 10mb of message history, 7mb from one person. I have got it down to about 8.5mb now, but there is some things you have to save for later.

Watch out, I am recording you.

A Whirlwind of Boredom and Excitement

I wanted to say some stuff before I start checking out the Texas Porn Blogs and what Warren Ellis is doing in Vancouver. The last three days have been both boring and interesting.

On Friday, I did my comic book run around London, picked up comics in downtown and E.O.A. (East of Adelaide on Dundas St.), got some Alan Moore Swamp Thing and the latest issue of Identity Crisis (which has got me totally interested in getting into comics), went up to Makeoutville (Masonville to the locals) and picked up the latest from Sonic Youth (Sonic Nurse) and Loretta Lynn (Van Lear Rose) which were awesome, and drove home. As I got home, A.V. MacGuyver called and said he had comics for me which made me go back to the forest city. A.V. was getting rid of about one quarter to one third of his stuff so he could get ready to move to the Wortley/Old South area. We drove to Goodwill at Sherwood at set everything on a cart. It seems a good chunk of people tend to drop off their stuff at night just before closing time at Goodwill. There were about four people trying to move an ugly early 90's couch off a pick-up truck, even though if they took the time to go around the student slums around Broughdale, they would have gotten rid of the couch and made some coin in the process. Later that night, A.V. and I watched Starsky and Hutch and Kill Bill vol. 2, the former was good, the latter was awesome.

Saturday, I woke up to the flicking of the on and off of my lightswitch as my dad tried to wake me up to get ready for haying. We tend to have a conflict when it comes to my morning routine. I believe in taking my time in the morning, my dad thinks it's a bit drawn out. We had to put up the pipes up to the barn to blow straw in the mound, which is not much of a problem, but when there is very little hay in the mound and a slight mishap could turn out to be a twenty feet drop into cow shit, a problem could arise. Fortunately for me, I was half out of it, and I could actually do what I was told. We didn't get to blow hay until late afternoon, and as my dad was cutting straw in the field, I had to watch the forage blower and the forage wagons to make sure nothing went wrong. This is a type of job that is easy, yet insanely boring, and you can't fall asleep because all of the noise around you. Anyways, something actually went wrong, the forage blower got plugged, It was at night so dad said screw it, we'll deal with this in the morning.

Sunday morning. I woke up early, which really ticked me off because I had hardly any sleep the past two nights. We fixed the plugged forage blower that took longer than expected. In the afternoon, I got a break of sorts: I visited my nephew because his birthday is tomorrow and I had to give him the cool presents I got him. I only stayed for a few minutes because my nerves were really getting to me, and I had no cigarettes on me at the time. When I got home, I slept for a good three hours, something I really need.

Alright, I been babbling for too long, It time for some wacky sunglasses (you will see later).
