Jones Fortunes...
Today, I had two bottles of Jones Soda. My first fortune cap said "Working life will become more varied. Try some new ideas." A couple of hours later when I bought the second bottle, my fortune cap said "Hide for a few days." In all honesty, I'm gonna try both.

A Post Henry Ford Detroit...
Eye Control and The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit are two sites proving that Henry Ford was the man for the 20th Century, not the 21th.
Tag back at you Niffer...
Okay, this whole tagged thing by The Magnificent Niffer on books and what not got me thinking, realizing that I can not remember the last time I read "a book". I have read magazine articles from Wired and Comics Journal, I read the newspaper whenever someone in our house picks one up, I'll read a blog that would keep my interest, and people who know me knows that I read comics. So, I am going try these seven questions, and try my best and not to use comics.
1. What book would I like to be?
Either an instuction manual for some dead tech or "Art Tech" like Laser Disc Players or Video DIsc Players, or one of those test books for kids who have learning disabilities.
2. Have I ever had a crush on a fictional character?
This feels like a bad Star Trek: The Next Generation episode. I gotta say no on this one because, well the characters that I dig were too young like Alice from Alice in Wonderland, or married like Odysseus' Wife in The Odyssey of Homer. Wait, I'll say I have a crush on the Marlin in Hemingway's Old Man in the Sea because that's one bitchin fish.
3. What is the last book I bought?
Alexei Sayle's Over Taken. I got the book because I saw a comic in the magazine section and I didn't want to spend just $3 on my credit card for a comic.
4. What is the last book I read?
I know Text Books don't count... Parker's Astrology by Julia and Derek Parker would the last book, but it wasn't a narrative... I think the last narrative book I read was Waterland, and I can't remember who wrote that.
5. What book am I currently reading?
Comic Books - I bought some runs and sets in the past few months and I am slowly going through them. I only have one tenth done on the series The Omega Men from DC Comics.
6. What 5 books would I take with me if I were stranded on a desert island?
I don't think I would choose to be stranded on a desert island, I think I would be put there against my will and I would probably have literature that I don't want near my presence and therefore use for the purpose of burning to keep warm. These would be books I would take to burn for my survival, not for my pleasure.
1. The Random House Compact Unabridged Dictionary: it's a pretty big book, it would keep me warm.
2. A major city Phonebook with Yellow Pages: well it's not like I'm going to be ordering a pizza on a desert island.
3. Anything written by a money grabbing tele-evangelist: well, I'm going to need toilet paper.
4. A carpet book: I'll need a pillow of some sort.
5. The Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engels, I'll use it as a guideline to my madness.
However, if it was comics (graphic novels) and it was my choice it would be
1. Watchmen - Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
2. Understanding Comics - Scott McCloud
3. Crisis on Infinite Earths - Marv Wolfman & George Perez
4. Sandman: Seasons of Mist - Neil Gaiman and some artist
5. Starman: Sins of the Father - James Robinson and Tony Harris
7. What 3 people am I going to tag with these questions and why?
Johnny #16, the A/V MacGuyver - His birthday is coming up and he knows that he has to prepare for the firey ritual of carousel, and he can do it through research.
Chemical Aimee - It's her week off in Japan, and I already know she's reading books from a "The Smiths" Fan.
I'm stopping it there because If Johnny replies, he'd put under two or three different identities, and Aim's will reply to it where no one would see it.
She would.

I've been everywhere man...
From 7pm Saturday Night to 7pm Sunday Night I went to the following communities/towns/cities...
Alvinston, Appin, Bright's Grove, Errol, Glencoe, Grand Bend, Kerwood, Keyser, Komoka, Lobo, London, Mandaumin, Mount Brydges, Napier, Northville, Parkhill, Poplar Hill, Ravenswood, Sarnia, Strathroy, Stoney Point, Sylvan, Thedford, Watford, Wyoming
I also want to mention that there were more places I went, I just can't remember them all.
I'm also kicking myself for not bringing my digital camera with me because there were things in Sarnia and Northville that words can not give full justice, like an "Omnibot" and "Glen Quagmire's Bar".

Adventures in Flea Markets...
Today has been a bonanza of Flea Market travelling, particularily Flea Markets I've never been to. This morning I went to two Flea and Farmer's Markets, one in Strathroy and one east of London. The Family Flea And Farmers Market in North Strathroy was small and quick, but I think I miss half of the flea market. What I found was mostly food and lamps with images of dead NASCAR drivers on them. I might go back there in a few weeks but I'm not too sure. However, the Trail's End Farmer's Market/London Sales Arena East of London was huge. It didn't have that creepiness that Gibraltar has, but it didn't the massive amount of crap booths either. However, I did score the following:
Comic
Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld #13 for $1
CDs
Patti Smith - Horses for $4 (this was a wise impulse buy)
R.E.M. - Document for $5
The Soundtrack to Kids in The Hall Brain Candy for $5
This afternoon I went south of Mount Brydges to the Hilltop Old Tyme Antique/Fleamarket. What was odd, yet neat with this place is how you can tell where the flea market section is and where the antiques section is with a faux 50's mom & pop dinner splitting the two. I found a lot of 8mm film accessories and Video Disc Movies like Ghostbusters, but nothing worth picking up today. This place I know I have to take Johnny #16 to because well, it's on "The Duece" (Hwy #2).
After all this travelling I decided to go to Arkona. There is nothing exciting in Arkona, I just felt like I should go there.

Compassivity is not a word and here are the coles notes for the last eight days...
Friday, March 18 - I went to a bar in Strathroy that I haven't gone to since the late 90's to hear some old friends play cover tunes. In short, I found out the bar went from low class dive or "The Embassy" style to high class dive or "The Old Vic" style (If you're from London, Ontario, you would know what I am talking about). I also took the time to check out Johnny #16's first VJ show he had over at the Artlab at UWO. I gotta say that analog video mixing boards that refuse to work with DVD Players are cool.
Saturday, March 19 - The 2005 UWO Film Festival and Cinema Subterrain were going on roughly at the same time, while I have seen most of the Cinema Subterrain's March screening of "Forgotten Heroes: A Screening of Super Hero TV Pilots and Movies That Never Saw The Light of Day", I opted to see the student films. This year's selection was pretty good... the "High School Poetry on Video" films were very low, the filmmakers that were known for "All Style - No Substance" had substance, and none of the movies had radiohead music in them. The Festival started at 6pm and finished before 9pm, so it gave me enough time to have a beer with Commander Risk & Lady Goldie and the filmmaker that won grand prize. Then I went to Cinema Subterrain, to find out it was overpacked (The Fanboys outnumbered the Cool Geeks). When Cinema Subterrain was done, I headed to the After party for the Film Festival....
Sunday, March 20 - I drank 2/3rds of a bottle of Screech (Newfoumdland/Jamaican Rum)... Straight... between 12:15am and I think 3am... there is video footage of me dancing to Beastie Boys "Sabotage"... I licked someone's face... some kissed me on the cheek... I think... and I vomitted out of a second storey window onto a sidewalk... other things happened as well, but I can't recall everything.
I passed out on the couch...
I woke up in the morning therefore losing my Darwin Award which I try to nominate myself for, drove to the place Lady Goldie crashed at saying she needed the ride earlier that morning during the screech time, to opting for the bus instead (which I thank her for that now). Headed to Johnny #16 place so we could drop off Movie Theatre in a Bag north of town as he lived in the south... realized that:
1) I had the 1st cousin of all hangovers, not too far from the Mother of all Hangovers...
2) The Downtown London Ontario Potholes are more noticeable with a hangover...
I Drove home and tried to recover, but didn't eat properly until...
Monday, March 21 - still recovering from Sunday, and realizing that i needed to move around so I drove to Petrolia for kicks... I didn't know the town had an Antiques Row that wasn't open until Wednesday. but the bright side to the day was finding the song from that Discofinska/Finnish Disco Lesson video I found online on iTunes Music Store Canada. The song: "Moskau"; the band: Dschinghis Khan; a German Pop/Disco band from the late1970's.
Tuesday, March 22 still recovering from Sunday... this time found Boney M.'s Rasputin (by other means other than iTunes)... was going on a "Russian Music not done by Russians" mood I guess...
Wednesday, March 23 - Tattoo Gill, The man who had the blog Brain Medicine closed it down and started This Blog Has Chlamydia. I asked if him if he planned to close down this blog, I wanted to take it over because I love the name and wished I thought of it first.
Thursday, March 24 - Went to Petrolia, found the Petrolia Flea market, and almost lost it. It was kind of like the Crossroads Flea Market in Brantford, but messier and Betamax video tapes replacing the Video Discs.
Friday, March 25 - Catching up on lots of things... music listening, comic book reading, sleeping, and blog writing... and I finally realized that iTunes Music Store makes me want to by more CDs.
Here are some of the CD purchases in the last few days:
The Beta Band - The Three E.P.'s
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Guitar Wolf - Planet of the Wolves
Various Artists - If I Were a Carpenter (Pre-mainstream Bands doing The Carpenters covers)
Three of those CDs I bought I had one song from iTunes Music Store... and all of it is good.
Well, I'm caught up.

Okay, I have to mention everything that has happened to me in the past week, however, I am in no mental compassivity to do anything about it right now. Gimme a few.
Thursday, March 17, 2005
um, how can I put it...
Okay, when someone does this, I shake my head, but I would also be calling the kettle black because I pulled this stunt in 2001 with the classic yet silly "Hell Hair". I know the guy, and if he actually goes through with it, he will get a nickname from me. (Screw it, he's getting the nickname Tattoo Gill).

I got so excited, I almost squealed with glee...
Last night, I was talking to a friend on comics and kids shows we remember when we were younger (even though there is a seven year difference between us) particularly the children's programming for TV Ontario (a Provincial Education Station... kind of like PBS). Anyways, when I got home, I got thinking, if someone else was a fan of these shows, there's going to be websites on them.
I first went on Google and started with just single shows like "Jeremy" and "Hippoworks" in which I couldn't find much. Then I slightly change the name of one of the shows from "Jeremy" to "Jeremy the Bear"... childhood memory jackpot. As usual, TV shows change their name when they are in different countries: It was only "Jeremy the Bear" in Canada (English speaking Canada to exact), but "Barnaby the Bear" in the UK, and "Colargol" in continential Europe.
Next, instead of the name of the show itself, I went for a lyric of a show "in the green forest", because, well honestly I couldn't remember the name of the show... this is where the almost squeal came in.
Classic TVO Kids Shows

When I found all this, it was after midnight. My friends that would know all this stuff (particularily Chemical Aimee, and Johnny #16) were sleeping or working, so I waited until this morning show to tell them.
They didn't have the same reaction as me, but it was close.

oly crap...
I just realized how boring my life can get to others. Then again, if you're blog hopping, you wouldn't care that much.
i can't breathe in this thing...
Today, I did something I haven't done in weeks... work. I help my dad move a gate in the barn on our property, it wasn't a big deal but, the blowing snow and -10 degree Celcius temperature kind of made the job a pain... and that I decided to run to the barn in cold weather (I never had breathing problems like this since I was smoking). I tried doing stuff I haven't done in days like watch tv, but I still can't get into it... not even Jon Stewart.
Tomorrow, I have to head London to pick up comic book supplies, 7' vinyl supplies and additions to the fourth and final wedding gift to Stinky the Cat's Caretakers, Commander Risk and Madame Frisbee. I also have to drop off Johnny #16's stuff at his place.
I just hope the weather won't suck so much ass.

Something to look at...
I've been checking out this one guy's site for quite awhile now (well since I saw the link on boing boing)
www.joeyharrison.com
I don't know the guy, but holy shit has he taken some awesome pictures of Detroit and Las Vegas, and I mean the worn down areas of these towns.
I was planning to put new pics on this site but flickr was down for the moment.

a day of nothing...
yep.
Well, I found out after all the comics I bought in the past three months (most of them were a buck or less) I had to do some catch up on reading, and when I mean catch up, I mean dwindle a 155 comic pile to zero (I aim at 20 comics a day if possible).
Probably by midnight, I will be half way through Grant Morrison's run of Animal Man, which is a excellent 1st run for a writer working for a mainstream company.

Antique Cruising...
I went to St.Thomas this morning to check out the Flea Market there to find out that there's no flea market open on Saturday (and for a small city of 33,000 you would think there would be a Flea Market open on Saturday). My Consolation prize was one of the Antiques stores on the main drag in downtown St. Thomas where I found more "gifts" for Johnny #16 birthday which is in a few weeks. After leaving that shoppe, I thought I would check out some of the Antique shoppe/warehouses in Lambeth neighbourhood (an old village taken over by the city of London in the 1990's). Usually when I look around antique stores I look for the following: comic books anything super 8mm, and 16mm film related. Comic books because antique dealers either overprice or underprice comics and when they do the latter, you quietly purchase as many you can afford. Anything that's super 8mm, and 16mm film related because the super 8mm & 16mm films are a piece of history, the projectors can be fix given time, and you can still get film for super 8mm cameras, you just got to talk to the right people.
Lambeth didn't have much in lines of the two things I was looking for, but I did find this...

I do know it's television related, I just forgot exactly what they are called at the moment.

btw...
I got a haircut yesterday and now look like curious george with glasses. What's stranger is that it actually suits me.
Sitting on my ass is great but...
I'm actually starting to get bored, wait, lemme get the right words for this situation.. no bored is the right word. I've been doing alot of blog hopping today. For every good blog, there has been about 19 dull ones (but I am rehashing an earlier entry a couple of months back). And when I'm not online I'm trying to catch up on comic book reading (I tend to pick up $1.25 comics in the cheap bins in comic books store in London and Sarnia). Television has lost its charm lately, I don't care the entertainment news for the moment, it's really hard watching Canadian news with the RCMP killings in Alberta, and the Weather Network isn't as addictive to watch lately.
I've listened to Brain Eno, Aphex Twin, mash-up Beatles songs, Death from Above 1979, and a Depeche Mode Gameboy Megamix, and after everything I listen to, I think someone should be mashing Kylie Minogue songs with Polka music. Think about it, that "I can't get you outta my head" song has a polka beat to it. You can totally see Walter Ostenak play the song.

The Blog Pot for Friday March 4th...
Okay for those that don't know what a blog pot is, a blog pot is a group of blogs that are not daily readings but worthy of holding a bookmark to because they were either cool or strange enough to see again (think of it a car wreck, or an oddly dressed drunkard for blogs). These are those blogs you find by fluke when you press the next blog button on the blogger network.
Anyways here are a couple of blogs I check out on a semi-daily basis...
Aimee's Adventures in Japan
Niffer's Pidgets and Other Fine Stuff

The flow at moodstats ain't going...
I checked out my moodstats today and I see how dead it is at that site. The last time I was on moodstats was around February 15th, and when I checked the site out today I was still considered one of the recent syncs. Furthermore, that would still make me a regular on the beetle farm.
Yikes.
Yikes.
