Since mr. Chip MacWebb was going on about the movie Dodgeball (a true underdog story) and how fun it was, I saw it, got a kick out of it and it made me check out other obscure sports like corkball and sports entertainment like Roller Derby. Furthermore, I thought Roller Derby was dead, gone dormant like drive-in movie theatres and poodle skirts... but I was wrong. Roller Derby is not dead... if fact, it is quite alive as I read Wayne's Derby World for proof. However, my question is why hasn't there been Roller Derby leagues in the Detroit or Toronto area? Does Roller Derby only have appeal in certain areas in the world, or since Roller Derby went punk, is it only kitsch to some?
It could have mass appeal.
Just imagine a team South Korean Short Track Speed skaters or a Saskatchewan team of Enforcers just going around in circles kicking some ass. I would pay good money to see this.

Hi King. There is quite likely to be an all female flat track style roller derby starting in Detroit in mid-2005. There might even be a banked track version of the sport in Detroit as well. Thanks for reading Wayne's Derby World and for your interest in the current roller derby revival.
